Do You Need a Travel Adapter for Denmark?

Denmark uses Type C, Type F and Type K sockets at 230 V, 50 Hz. Phone and laptop chargers from Europe plug straight in. From the US, the UK, Australia, Canada and Japan you need a Type F or K adapter. Single-voltage hair dryers from the US, Canada and Japan also need a voltage converter.

Denmark's own standard is Type K (DS 60884-2-D1). Type C Europlugs fit and work normally. Type E/F (Schuko and French) plugs physically fit a Type K socket but make no earth connection, so grounded appliances lose their safety earth. Schuko (Type F) sockets have been permitted in new installations since 2011 and French Type E sockets since 2008, but Type K remains by far the most common.

Phone, laptop, USB and camera chargers are dual voltage, so they only need the right plug. Single-voltage hair dryers, straighteners and kettles need a converter unless rated for 220–240 V; electric shavers and CPAP machines vary by model. Read the INPUT line on the label. Adapter or converter?
